March 21 - 22, 2009
Whirlygig is swirling with color and pattern and includes 10 over-dyed silk and cotton threads among the 17 threads used in the design. You'll have fun stitching a variety of "small stitches" in one color combination, and be amazed at the results when you rearrange colors and stitch them again. Each stitching area has compensating stitches and you will be a compensation expert when you're done. The finished project is adaptable to many uses. The large center button is included in your kit. For the intermediate to advanced intermediate canvas stitcher, the project finishes 10" x 10" on 18 count mono canvas.
Cost is $120 for the class fee / $97 for the kit for a total of $217.
Deadline for registrations is January 10, 2009
Location is the Residence Inn by Marriott in Eagan. It's hockey season so please book a room early if you plan to stay.
April 17-19, 2009
Saturday, April 18, Annual Meeting Lecture – Antique Needlework Tools
Friday and Sunday, April 17 and 19 – Workshop, Miss Hannah’s House
Miss Hannah’s House was created to remember all of the teachers and students who created samplers in school. Miss Hannah Swan was a teacher from Charleston who taught in Massachusetts. None of the samplers that her students stitched have been found. The house and the toys have a number of stitches that were used on period samplers from the areas where she studied and taught. The design for the roof of the house features two alphabets and a verse. Animals and trees are stitched on the outside of the house along with Miss Hannah and two of her students. The alphabet book contains folded paper alphabets and a few designs. The personalized pin ball has a row of glass headed pins around it. The apple shaped measuring tape has a ribbon leaf for the tape pull. The painted wooden needle case mimics a wooden pencil that the students would have used in class

Paisley Passion
Let your passion show in this one-of-a-kind paisley purse embellished with beads, Dorset buttons, and Swarovski crystal beads on a foundation of appliquéd Ultrasuede, silk threads and metallic braids. Paisley Passion is available in six color schemes: blue/purple, rust/orange, purple/red violet, red/fuchsia, lime green/rust, black/metals. Students may copy the paisley patterns featured in the model or use them for inspiration for optional project shapes. The paisley purse techniques are taught on a companion piece that is included in the price of the purse kit. This companion piece is called The Paisley Pocket. It features a flower shape with scalloped edges to match the style of the purse. It can be made up as a small cosmetic bag to be used in the purse or in any other desired embroidery finishing such as a box top, pillow insert, etc. Let your imagination flow as you create the paisley palette that best expresses your stitching passion.
