We’ll discuss stitching ideas for a 5 1/2” heart-shaped needle case, with Jane T. as our guide. The original linen needle case is made with cross stitched front and back hearts and folding side hearts (Photos are of Jane’s piece). But we’re expanding the project to any form of heart shaped needlework. The stitching on the front might be cross stitch, hardanger, pulled thread, crazy quilting, needlepoint, wool appliqué, antique embroideries, etc., etc. The finished open needle case lies flat with two wool pages inside for needles and criss-crossed grosgrain ribbon to hold a small scissors. We’ll have a template to trace the guideline for the size of the stitched area. The inspiration for this project is Lydia’s Heart, designed by Edie Weilemann. If you have this project in your stash, now is the time to finish it!
This group explores a variety of needlework. Usually, it meets in the homes of members. Members bring their own lunches.
