Potpourri Stitchers: Strawberry Fayre by Carolyn Pearce, Part 1

  • Tue, June 15, 2021
  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM

A palette of soft greens and berry pinks plus a bounty of exquisite details make this folding heart-shaped sewing necessaire an essential for every needleworker. When opened, it contains pockets for essentials plus a pincushion, needle pages and thread rings. Stitched with various surface embroidery techniques, the necessaire closes with a Dorset button and strawberry cord. The upper edge of each heart is finished with a beaded edge and a tassel of strawberry emery, pinwheel and thimble holder swings from the lower tips. The finished piece excluding the tassels measures 6 ¾” x 7 ½” when closed. The pattern is  from Inspirations magazine issue 95. The magazine is no longer available but the 32-page PDF pattern can be purchased for $9.99 here.

Laura Ericksen will discuss materials needed and how to begin marking the ground fabric. She has compiled a spreadsheet of the materials required for this project with tips for acquiring them, and the document is available on the Members Resources page of the website. There are several blogs that discuss making this piece; search these sites for the relevant discussions:
