RETURN TO THE FULL CALENDAR
Judy O’Neil & Debbie Schwabel, members of the Exemplary Needle Guild in Buffalo, NY, will present a program on Bristol Orphanage Samplers.
Judy will present the talk on Bristol Samplers. These samplers were worked by the girls living in George Müller's orphanage in Bristol, England. The Orphan Homes taught the girls many needlework skills. Judy will highlight some known Bristol Samplers, and talk about the common motifs and other characteristics of these samplers.
Debbie has designed a small pin cushion with motifs often found on Bristol Orphanage Samplers. Use your favorite red thread and linen to stitch this cushion on any count linen. Embellish the edges with a Coral Knot stitch. Debbie will go over the instructions and finishing of the cushion, including a demonstration of the Coral Knot stitch. The chart is available under Meeting Handouts in the Member’s Resource section of the NGM website.
